We joke around a lot at TEAM Arizona.  Kevin’s jokes…not so good.  Lucky for us, Kevin gets to be at the center of many of those jokes.  He’s a good sport about it all, which is why no other RiderCoach has so many nicknames:  Dude (think Big Lebowski), Rooster Cogburn (True Grit), and Strawberry (ask him… you’ll enjoy the answer!).

Our award this month is certainly no joke.  We don’t think we possess the words to articulate how much we appreciate Kevin Wood, TEAM Arizona RiderCoach of the Month for October 2013, but we’re going to try and give it a shot.  His list of accomplishments are many and each deserve their own special highlight.  Here is what makes Kevin unique and important to TEAM Arizona:

  • One of only five Total Control Instructors in the State of Arizona

  • Crucial in developing Skill Development and Advanced Riding Curriculum for law enforcement
  • Certified to coach the Intro Course, Basic RiderCourse, Confident RiderCourse, Skills Practice Series, Advanced Riding Techniques, Total Control Level 1, Total Control Track Clinic, Law Enforcement Skill Development, and Law Enforcement Advanced Riding
  • Member of the Training and Update Facilitators for TEAM Arizona (corps of coaches who perform annual training for all TEAM Arizona coaches)
  • Performed riding demonstrations at Arizona Bike Week 2013
  • Provides office support when staff are on vacation or ill
  • Provides range painting services for the school
  • Very rarely says no…always seems to find a way to get things done WELL.

That may look like a simple list, but those accomplishments are huge.  The best part about Kevin is his attitude.  As you can tell by the list, he is extremely versatile but it is his attitude that sends him over the top.  He is totally focused on providing the best rider training experience possible.  Ultimately, it is only through the outstanding effort of coaches like Kevin that TEAM Arizona is capable of providing the premier rider training services in Arizona.

Please, take time to wish Kevin well-deserved CONGRATULATIONS!  We here at TEAM Arizona are proud to have him as part of the family!
