(GILBERT, AZ) – TEAM Arizona, the premier motorcycle rider training organization in Arizona,  provided the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic RiderCourse to a select group of hearing impaired individuals on November 7, 9, and 10, at the TEAM Arizona headquarters in Gilbert, Arizona.

The Basic RiderCourse is a learn-to-ride class.  All hearing impaired participants were exposed to safe riding strategies and had an opportunity to refine the gross motor skills necessary for riding a motorcycle.  Successful completion of the written and riding evaluations during the course provided a participant with a certificate they can use at the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division to obtain their motorcycle endorsement to ride legally on the road.

The training course was born out of a partnership created by Ron Arieli, TEAM Arizona owner, and Helen Young, the interpreter who provided the sign language services at the course.  This course was promoted by Mrs. Young through the Grand Canyon Deaf Bikers Facebook page.

This special course offering represents TEAM Arizona’s commitment to offer a safe, fun, and consistent motorcycling experience to riders of all backgrounds and all skill levels.  Owner Arieli defines why he established this course, “We do our best to provide our services to as many cross-sections of the public as possible.  Ultimately, we want the best trained, best educated riders on the roads of Arizona.”

The course provided several challenges for the RiderCoaches and the participants.  For this reason, private training sessions utilizing an interpreter for hearing-impaired riders was necessary.  Due to demand, TEAM Arizona is looking forward to providing two hearing-impaired courses in the upcoming year.

Hearing impaired riders who are interested in training can sign up for the next private course in March 2014.  Registration for that course can take place by visiting this page:  https://tinyurl.com/k68mykn
