When we performed our RiderCoach Prep Workshop in May of 2012, never could we have imagined the outstanding quality of people who would attend the workshop.  Already, we’ve had six of the eleven individuals qualify for range status and many others are well on their way to completing their qualifications, which can take some people more than a year to complete.

One individual from the group has taken the bit between his teeth and decidedly made his mark on TEAM Arizona in a very short time frame.  Craig Smith has not only provided needed coaching for our Basic RiderCourses, but he’s also stepped up to perform several Confident RiderCourses too.  He’s been quick to fill in spots when our schedulers needed bodies.  He’s filled in with a smile on his face and solid positive feedback from students.

Craig’s fascination with motorcycling started in the 80’s with a longing to ride his relative’s motorcycles.  He took the TEAM Arizona Basic RiderCourse twenty years later and has never looked back.   His decision to become a RiderCoach was prompted by one of our RiderCoaches, Bruce Officer, nearly eight years ago.  Bruce’s suggestion finally took seed this year.  Craig exclaims, “It has been the most rewarding experience for me personally and professionally. I don’t know why I waited!”

In the short time as RiderCoach, he’s come to value the appreciation of the students at the end of the course and the acquired knowledge he receives from veteran RiderCoaches.

Here are some more fun facts about Craig:

  • His favorite day ride is Vulture Mine Rd up to 89A to Jerome then cut across 260 and back home down the Beeline.
  • He just traded in his trusty cruiser for a Kawasaki Ninja 1000.
  • His favorite piece of information to pass along to all riders is the riding strategy S.E.E.

Please, take time to wish Craig well-deserved CONGRATULATIONS!  We here at TEAM Arizona are proud to have him as part of the family!
