For those of us ready to take the plunge into motorcycling, we may not fully realize when the seed of that dream was implanted in us.  For Eric, he thinks it may have been when his father placed him on a motorcycle for a picture when he lived in Taiwan.  He admits he doesn’t have a memory of the first time he fell in love with motorcycling.  What is undeniable is that he has fallen in love with riding.  For his passion and for his drive to see the world, we’re happy to have him as our Rider of the Month for July 2016.

IN THE BEGINNING

Eric tells us about his start with motorcycling:

I’m not one of the many people who started on dirt bikes as a kid. I’m sure my parents just thought they were too dangerous so we didn’t have them around.  Motorcycles looked to be lots of fun and when my first job out of college landed me in California, it was the perfect opportunity to start this hobby. Since then, I’ve always had a motorcycle in the garage.

What has Eric accomplished on two wheels since his college days?

In my twenty-two (22) year riding career, I’m guessing I have about 250,000 miles on the street and probably 2 hours of dirt experience. I’ve now ridden in all 50 states, 3 Canadian provinces, and Mexico.

Twenty-two years of riding?  A quarter million miles?  Certainly Eric can offer us some insight to his success.  Simply stated, “Ride like everyone else on the road is trying to kill you.”  Yep, that’ll do it!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR ERIC?

So what does motorcycling have in store for Eric?  He thinks quite a bit:

My next big goal would be to check off the remaining Canadian provinces. Nunavut is the only I wouldn’t be able to reach as there currently are no roads into that territory. There’s talk of ferry service in the works but I think that’s several years away.

Canada, especially during an Arizona summer, reads like a smart move to us.  Keep in touch Eric as you make your way through the Canadian provinces.  Better yet, bring us along!!!
