David Wilson RiderCoach of the Month

It is tough to know when David Wilson is having a bad day.  It seems his smile never leaves his face.  Or maybe, just maybe, being an educator is so much a part of who he is, that his smile is derived from coaching.  One thing we know for sure is that because of Dave’s outgoing nature, positive attitude, and willingness to help people learn that he finds himself TEAM Arizona’s RiderCoach of the Month for November 2013.

Dave’s motorcycling career started in 1986 in the form of envy.  His neighbor, Scott, showed up with a brand spanking new 1986 Honda XR100 and the fire was lit.  Today, with a garage filled with his two motorcycles, there is no envy…or is there?  When asked what motorcycle he rides, he told us about his two motorcycles (2000 Kawasaki ZRX1100 and a 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650), and then proceeded to list a slew of other bikes he’d love to own or ride.  Yes, the motorcycling bug bit Dave hard.  And as all of us riders know, once it is in the blood, there is no getting it out!

david-wilson-smallWhen Dave gets the chance to cater to the motorcycling bug, he enjoys a spirited ride through the Salt River Canyon or an overnight blast up the 191.  That is, when he isn’t coaching.

Dave has been a TEAM Arizona RiderCoach since 2011 and still looks forward to the challenge of delivering his knowledge to riders in bite-sized chunks so that they won’t be overloaded with too much information.  Without a doubt, he identifies with every new rider.  “I can remember the sensation I experienced when I took a MSF course and  learned the fundamentals of riding a street bike.  I like the outpouring of excitement from the students. It keeps ME excited! ”

To those same new riders who keep him excited, Dave wants to pass along this bit of information:

You are very vulnerable out there on the roads. What you hear about motorists not seeing or looking out for you is true. Try to avoid whenever possible being in people’s blind spot.

We couldn’t agree more with you Dave!

Please, take time to wish Dave well-deserved CONGRATULATIONS!  We here at TEAM Arizona are proud to have him as part of the family!
