We face some extreme weather in Arizona that wreaks havoc on batteries.  I’m sure you’ve experienced car batteries that last two, maybe three years at the most.  You may have noticed that motorcycle batteries may not even match that length of time.  What can we do to prolong the life of a motorcycle battery, ensure stress-free motorcycle start up when we need it, and save us money in the long run?  With some OEM batteries priced at nearly $200, the answer is simple:  sub $50 battery maintenance chargers.

You’ve probably heard of the brand name maintenance charger called Battery Tender by Deltran.  There are other manufacturers of battery maintenance chargers that also do the trick, and can provide similar features and benefits.  There are lots of good options for less than $50, so do your research.  If you can prolong the life of that $200 battery by one year, you’ll get your ROI on just one battery.

Battery Tender with Accessory Port Plug InOf course, buying the battery isn’t the last thing you’ll need to do.  We’ll need to be disciplined enough to plug it into the charger every time we park it at home.  Most motorcycle chargers come supplied with battery leads that permit easy plug and play.  Some riders choose to add an accessory port and plug their charger into the accessory port.  No muss, no fuss, and you’ve increased the likelihood of a having a battery with enough juice to turn over the motorcycle engine the next time you want to ride.

So now that your battery is charged and ready to rock, where are you going to ride to next?  Why don’t you tell us on our TEAM Arizona Facebook page?
