Pete “KWICK” Aronson

Anyone with a nickname “KWICK” just HAS TO BE obsessed with motorcycles that are both light and fast.  It seeps into everything he does, including his business:  ExpensiveLightweightStuff.com  Pete’s support of the motorcycling community, especially TEAM Arizona, means we can no longer overlook his omission as TEAM Arizona Rider of the Month.

IN THE BEGINNING….

Much like the heroes in our favorite Marvel stories, our riding careers begin with an origin story.  Pete is no exception.  In 1969 his father purchased a Honda QA 50 for his ten year old son.  And then hogged the very first ride when they returned home with it.  For what seemed like hours, even thought it was the longest 15 minutes ever, Pete drooled helplessly as he watched his father play “break in” the new ride.  The obsession was born.

MOVING ON UP

All work and now play makes Pete a dull boy! Here he is playing on his 1971 CB500K with 550F bodywork.

Pete’s early riding days were spent off road.  In a very short period of time, Pete moved up to a 1974 XL175 that he rode to receive his license.  In 1976 he picked up a Honda CB400F and primarily stuck to the road…until he got a taste of the track and earned the nickname Peter Road Rash.  The nickname KWICK escaped him and wasn’t to appear for years.  He reasoned:

At that time there was no training.  I was never the fastest but I tried hard.  A guy just rode as fast as he could and hoped to learn something from the racing and crashing.  I was self taught, but wished there was training available.

Pete was serious about riding.  He rode motorcycles 365 days a year.  He didn’t even own a car until he was 24.  Pete saw more chances to go fast with cars, but not without some training.  In cars he was able to receive extensive training which opened up a four-wheeled passion.  With the advent of motorcycle rider training, he sought out the best in the country at that time:  California Superbike.  With thirteen (13) California Superbike training courses under his belt, KWICK was honing his skills to become a safer, faster rider.  He further honed his skills by taking all of TEAM Arizona Skill Improvement Courses.  Impressed by the curriculum and knowledge possessed by TEAM AZ’s coaches, Pete has been a strong supporter of our school.

NOW WE’RE IN BUSINESS

Pete Aronson with Kwik KatAs mentioned before, Pete’s passion for all things two-wheeled performance led to opening a business.  At ExpensiveLightweightStuff.com Pete personally handcrafts all kinds of motorcycle parts to make motorcycles lighter, better handling, and better running.  Over the years he’s acquired quite the loyal fan base, especially by followers of the Kawasaki ZRX (a bike Pete calls an Eddie Lawson replica, replica).  One of Pete’s claims to fame includes building a quick kill switch for when a bike tips over.  He used a logic circuit board designed by Sean Stasiak (of Xbox design fame).

His followers especially like receiving their parts from Pete as he’s known to include a “KWICK” Kat.  Who wouldn’t love getting a sweet surprise with their order?

We’re happy to have Pete as part of the Arizona motorcycling community.  We especially appreciate his support throughout the years and can’t wait to see what he builds next!
